To further promote Tianjin University’s“Double First-Class”initiatives and science disciplines and cultivate talents with creativity and global vision, School of Science and National University of Singapore launched a research-focused internship program in an online manner, which attracted nearly 40 undergraduates.
This program mainly consisted of keynote speeches and online visits of campus and laboratories. Cheng Shanshan, Assistant Dean of the School of Science, led students to get rid of online alienation and engage in interactions with teachers from National University of Singapore.
This virtual meeting was chaired by Boon Siang Jason Yeo, Professor of National University of Singapore, who also delivered an opening speech. Then, four professors from the NUS Department of Chemistry gave keynote presentations which inspired students to explore the frontiers of science and enhance their learning interests and research capabilities. In the end, three teachers from the Department of Chemistry at NUS led the students on an online tour of the laboratories that enabled students to experience NUS’research development and atmosphere.
Since 2018, School of Science has been organizing annual research-based activities, which included attending academic reports, visiting campuses and laboratories, exchanging views with teachers and students and so on, with the aim of enhancing students’global vision, interests in research, and creativity. This program was held online this year.
