On August 24, Professor Hu Wenping, Executive Vice President of Tianjin University, encouraged new students to explore into the world of chemistry on their first class at the School of Science.
Why do we learn chemistry? Executive Vice President Hu discussed the basic uses of chemistry with the students. He then introduced the school’s major achievements in chemistry and cooperative education. With the rapid development driven by the new demand of engineering, Tianjin University cooperates with top international universities and is committed to creating a chemistry major with distinguishing feature that suits the new needs of the engineering disciplines.
In his report, the professional advantages of applied Chemistry and special features of the undergraduate program at the Department of Chemistry were introduced to students. The school leverages high-quality teaching resources like national-level teaching and research platforms, national major projects and world-class institutions to systematically set up the teaching plans.
At the end of his talk, he hoped that students could lay a solid academic foundation, be innovative, explore more possibilities in chemistry and build their own dreams in the future.
